Franklin County Supervisors to Review Courthouse Work, Legal Support Request

untitled-design-21

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors will meet Monday in the courthouse boardroom to review a number of updates and action items ranging from courthouse maintenance to annual financial reports.

The meeting will include a presentation from Doug Foreshoe of Bergland & Cram, who will provide an update on the courthouse repointing project. Home Care Director Deb Jones will ask the board to consider an exemption to the county’s auto insurance requirement.

Under old business, supervisors will consider whether to provide financial support for an amicus brief in the Couser vs. Shelby County case, being filed on behalf of the Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) membership. The case was a legal dispute concerning whether local county ordinances regulating the safety and construction of an interstate carbon dioxide (CO2) pipeline were preempted by federal and state law.

New business items include several key financial and operational items: approval of a Resolution for Operation Green Light, review and approval of the FY2025 CASH and GAAP Annual Financial Reports as presented by the auditor, and approval of a snow removal contract with Team Concrete.

The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. Monday and is available on the supervisors’ Facebook page.
