Voters in three area school districts decided key funding measures Tuesday, with two passing and one narrowly missing the supermajority required.

In the AGWSR School District, a proposed $12.76 million bond issue for facility upgrades and classroom improvements failed to reach the 60% approval threshold needed for passage. The measure received 628 yes votes (54.56%) and 523 no votes (45.44%) out of 1,151 cast. Support was strongest in Hardin County, where 61% voted in favor, but opposition from voters in Butler, Grundy, and Franklin counties offset that backing. The proposal would have funded safety improvements, building upgrades, and modernized learning spaces across the district.

In the Aplington-Parkersburg School District, voters approved a $16.3 million bond referendum with 610 yes votes (60.4%) and 400 no votes (39.6%) from 1,010 ballots cast. The measure, which required 60% to pass, will fund secure entrances, HVAC and system upgrades, and essential building improvements at both the Aplington and Parkersburg facilities.

Meanwhile, North Butler School District voters approved a renewed Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) with 600 yes votes (65.8%) and 312 no votes (34.2%). The levy, set at the maximum rate of $1.34 per $1,000 of taxable property value, will begin in fiscal year 2027. The district’s previous levy expired June 30, and the renewed measure will fund technology, transportation, and facility maintenance.
