
Voters across the RadioOnTheGo broadcast area made their choices in Tuesday’s city and school elections, deciding several contested school board races that will shape local leadership for the next few years.
On the Alden School Board, Lucy Rodriguez (119 votes) and Jessica Christensen (98 votes) were elected to two at-large seats. The other candidates were Steven Lyon (78 votes) and Samone Whitfield (63 votes).
In the Aplington-Parkersburg School District, Jill Kalkwarf (704 votes) and Nate Steege (675 votes) were elected to the two at-large seats on the school board. Sherri Walker (403 votes) was the other candidate in that race.
In the Belmond-Klemme School District, four people were running for two at-large seats on the school board. Melissa Arnold (578 votes) and Gary L. Berkland (545 votes) were elected to those seats. The other candidates were Cody Ostendorf (507 votes) and John Wacker (245 votes) were the other candidates in that race.
For Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, four people were running for two District 1 seats on the school board. Megan Ring (375 votes) and Alison Marshall (344 votes) were elected. The other candidates were Carlos Levya Jr. (279 votes) and Joseph Corrow (229 votes).
For Dike-New Hartford, two people were seeking an at-large seat on the school board. Christa Lotts (289 votes) defeated Julie Cuvelier (286 votes) in the closely-contested race.
Four people were running for two at-large seats on the Iowa Falls School Board. Kaitlyn Hoversten (916 votes) and Joel Weeks (691 votes) were elected. The other candidates were Karla Damiano (400 votes) and David Moore II (261 votes).
On the West Fork School Board, Ashley Wilkinson defeated Benjamin Neal for the at-large seat by a vote count of 281-234.
