There were a few contested races during Tuesday’s city/school election in Cerro Gordo County.
Meservey Mayor Richard Miller will serve another term as he defeated challenger Denis Avery by a vote count of 27-23.
In Rockwell, Mayor Larry Wentz was elected to another term as he ran unopposed. Five people ran for three at-large seats on the Rockwell City Council. Abbie Emhoff (171 votes), Tracy Worley (156 votes) and Bradley Meyer (126 votes) were elected to those seats. Don O’Connor (113 votes) and Patrick Hurley (56 votes) were the other candidates for those seats.
In Swaledale, the mayor’s seat and two city council seats will be decided by write-in votes. Cerro Gordo County Auditor Adam Wedmore in an email to RadioOnTheGo News says the county’s absentee team will convene at 9:00 a.m. Monday, November 10th to count write-ins. Once finished, they will prepare the documents for the canvas of election and notify any write-in winners.
