
Iowa motorists are paying slightly more at the pump this week. AAA reports the average price for regular unleaded gasoline has risen one cent to $2.81 per gallon. That’s still two cents lower than at this time last year. The national average is higher at $3.08, up four cents from a week ago.
Locally, GasBuddy shows regular unleaded Thursday morning priced at $2.88 in Hampton, $2.84 in Iowa Falls, and $2.89 in Parkersburg.
Diesel prices climbed for the second straight week, increasing six cents to an Iowa average of $3.59 per gallon. That’s 12 cents below the national average of $3.71. One year ago, diesel in Iowa averaged $3.34.
Crude oil prices have moved in the opposite direction. West Texas Intermediate dropped 72 cents to $60.16 per barrel, while Brent crude fell $1.13 to $64.05. A year ago, WTI crude traded nearly $15 higher at $74.93.
