At this week’s Greene City Council meeting, members formally accepted the resignations of Council Member Marnie Schmidt, effective October 12th, and Mayor Warren Van Dyke, effective November 7th.
The council voted to fill Schmidt’s vacant seat by appointment during the December 8th meeting. However, the council did not appoint a new mayor, directing Mayor Pro-Tem Al Zweck to serve in that role until January 1st. Galen Lindell was recently elected as the new mayor in Greene and will begin his duties in January.
In other business, the council heard the annual pool report, noting higher expenses but increased revenue and strong attendance. Council members approved transferring funds from the Pool Savings Fund to the General Fund and accepted the annual financial report for fiscal year 2025.
The library board received approval from the Greene City Council for a $27,000 budget amendment for improvements and a 10% city contribution increase beginning in fiscal year 2026–27.
