The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows School Board met Thursday and heard reports on academic priorities, activities, and administrative needs.
High School Principal Adam Vorrie outlined three districtwide priorities identified by staff and students: improving school safety, strengthening professional learning communities, and building better support systems for students and staff. Activities Director Brad Kahler reported on fall and winter sports and noted low participation numbers in girls athletics, with the high school girls basketball team made up mostly of first-time players.
Superintendent Joe Nelson discussed staff concerns about the combined elementary and middle school principal structure, citing communication and workload issues. The board will decide in December whether to return to a two-principal model.
In other action, the board approved FY27 superintendent contract terms for Jared Carder, accepted several early retirement applications, and approved multiple FY26 staffing contracts and policy updates.
