According to Radio Iowa, state officials say full SNAP benefits for November are expected to be distributed to all eligible Iowa households by today (Friday) following the end of the federal government shutdown. Some recipients may have seen their benefits available as early as yesterday (Thursday).
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services advises SNAP users to call the number on the back of their EBT card to verify their balance before making purchases. Account information can also be checked through a link on the agency’s website. Roughly 130,000 households — representing about 270,000 Iowans — receive SNAP benefits, formerly known as food stamps.
