Recording a season-high 14 tackles against Coe College Saturday, Central College defensive tackle and Grundy Center alum Trent Cakerice was named the American Rivers Conference Defensive Player of the Week and was picked for the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Among his 14 tackles, Cakerice had a pair of solo sacks and an additional solo tackle-for-loss for a total of three TFLs. He also tipped a first down pass in the air for Dutch safety Derek Pacheco to intercept.
It’s the fourth time a Central player has been selected for the D3football.com Team of the Week in 2025.
Central finished its season at 8-2 overall and 6-2 in the American Rivers Conference.
