Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig is urging the California Air Resources Board to move quickly on approving E15 fuel for drivers. Naig says Iowa’s experience shows E15 is a cleaner, lower-cost option that consumers choose when given the opportunity. Iowa leads the nation in biofuels production, and E15 sales have surged from 42 million gallons in 2019 to more than 256 million in 2024. The fuel typically costs about 15 cents less per gallon, saving Iowans an estimated $38.5 million last year. Naig says California can follow Iowa’s example and safely expand access to the lower-emission fuel.
