Two Marshalltown men have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a long-running heroin distribution conspiracy. Marcel Oden, 53, and his brother, 56-year-old Jerry Oden, were sentenced after federal prosecutors said the pair distributed more than 100 grams of heroin in the Marshalltown area over at least three years.

Court records show both men had prior drug-related convictions. Jerry Oden was on state parole at the time for multiple heroin and marijuana offenses dating back to 2014 and 2018.

Marcel Oden received a 78-month federal prison sentence, a $20,000 fine, and five years of supervised release. Jerry Oden was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison followed by four years of supervised release. Federal sentences do not allow for parole.

U.S. Attorney David Waterman announced the sentences. The case was investigated by the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force and the Marshalltown Police Department.
