Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig is praising the state’s farmers following the latest Iowa Crop Progress and Condition Report from the USDA. Naig says producers delivered a strong 2025 corn and soybean crop despite challenges that included disease pressure, variable weather, low commodity prices and high input costs. He added that strong production must be paired with strong markets and encouraged continued efforts to expand demand for Iowa-grown products. As Iowans gather for Thanksgiving, Naig also urged residents to give thanks for the farm families who help provide holiday meals.
The weekly USDA report shows above-normal temperatures and mostly dry conditions, giving farmers 5.2 days suitable for fieldwork. Corn harvest is now 99 percent complete across the state. Topsoil moisture is rated 67 percent adequate, and subsoil moisture is at 66 percent adequate.
The Iowa Department of Agriculture also reports unseasonably warm temperatures and scattered rainfall across northern Iowa.
