A Hampton man was arrested early Tuesday morning after police say he attempted to break into an occupied home.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Franklin County District Court, 38-year-old Corey Ryan Casady was taken into custody after officers responded to a call reporting that he tried to open a sliding door and enter a home on 7th Street Southwest while residents were inside.
One of the residents told police that Casady ran from the property. Casady was reportedly located at a nearby laundromat, where police say he confirmed he had been at the residence earlier. Police also noted that Casady matched a clothing description provided by the resident.
Casady was arrested by the Hampton Police Department and jailed on a charge of attempted first-degree burglary, a Class C felony.
