A Mason City man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison on multiple drug and firearm charges.

Darius Stackhouse, 33, was sentenced Oct. 1 in U.S. District Court in Sioux City after a March 12 jury found him guilty of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, four counts of distribution of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Federal prosecutors say that between June 2021 and March 2023, Stackhouse was part of a methamphetamine distribution ring based in Mason City. Evidence showed he sold more than 40 pounds of meth during the conspiracy, including three pounds to law enforcement sources.

During several search warrants, investigators seized more than $30,000 in cash, additional controlled substances and a firearm from Stackhouse’s residence.

U.S. District Judge Leonard T. Strand sentenced Stackhouse to 300 months in federal prison, followed by a five-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

Stackhouse remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transported to a federal prison. The case was investigated by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ron Timmons.
