Edited to correct cities listed as part of the advisory:

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. for Franklin, Butler and Cerro Gordo Counties in our broadcast area — including area cities such as Hampton, Sheffield, Dumont, Allison, Parkersburg, Rockwell and Mason City in northern Iowa. The National Weather Service in Des Moines reports northwest winds of 25 to 35 miles an hour, with gusts reaching 50 miles an hour. Loose items may blow around, and a few small tree limbs could come down.

The advisory that had covered counties farther south expired earlier this morning, though winds will stay brisk through midday. Forecasters also note that another round of accumulating snow is possible Friday into Saturday, which could lead to travel problems.

Meanwhile, immediately to our north, a winter weather advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. for southern Minnesota.
