Franklin REC tells RadioOnTheGo News it has been closely monitoring the forecast and has consulted with city officials as snowfall amounts and hazardous travel conditions become more likely. After reviewing safety concerns tied to increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic downtown, the cooperative decided it is best to postpone the Light Up the Night event to Saturday, Dec. 6.
Updated details and any schedule changes will be released Monday morning.
Franklin REC says it appreciates the community’s understanding and looks forward to hosting a safe and enjoyable celebration next weekend.
In the meantime, the Band Shell Park will still be lit for the season tonight at 4:30 p.m.; however, there will be no formal lighting ceremony.
