The Iowa State Patrol has released its final numbers from the powerful winter storm that swept across the state over the holiday weekend, dropping more than a foot of snow in many areas. Between noon Friday (11/28) and noon Sunday (11/30), troopers responded to 856 calls for service statewide.
The report includes 210 crashes, with 190 resulting in property damage and 20 involving personal injuries. No fatal crashes were reported, despite widespread hazardous travel conditions. Troopers also responded to 646 motorist assists, many tied to vehicles stuck, stranded, or unable to navigate snow-covered roadways.
Snowfall totals ranged from 10 to 15 inches. At the RadioOnTheGo studios in Hampton, 12 inches of snow were recorded between the two days, while a report from Geneva measured 14 inches.
