The AP-GC wrestling teams will be in action Thursday in different locations. The girls will be at the Dan Gable Donnybrook Tournament at Xtream Arena and the boys will host a quad.
After Grace Storjohann competed at the Dan Gable Donnybrook Tournament individually last season, the team will have a chance to compete among some of the top wrestlers from around the Midwest. Head Coach Joel Reints.
“We just felt like we were getting to a level where our girls can go down there and have some success and compete in that tournament,” Head Coach Joel Reints says. “So I felt like the timing was right to get into a top level tournament. And I think we’ll have some girls do really well down there. Obviously, Grace finished third last year down there. And I think she’s going to be in the title contention down there. We got some others, Zoey Uhlenhopp and Caylee Harken and some other girls that can make some noise down there.”
Action will start at 11:30 a.m. and run all day.
The boys will begin their season by hosting Vinton-Shellsburg, North Tama and Union for a quad. It’ll start at 6:15 p.m.
