Green Belt Bank and Trust is alerting customers to fraudulent calls and texts. In a post on its Facebook page, the bank says someone identifying himself as “Michael Watson” has been contacting customers while claiming to represent Green Belt Bank and Trust or Treasury Management in Grundy Center. The scammer may reference suspicious ACH payments and ask customers to click a link or verify personal information.
The bank says the messages are a scam and urges customers not to click any links or share any information. Instead, customers should hang up immediately and call the bank directly using an official phone number.
Green Belt Bank and Trust says there is no indication of a data breach, but warns that scammers often gather information from a variety of sources, including online records, checks and stored card information.
Customers who believe they may have shared information or received a fraudulent call should contact their branch right away.
