The Dan Gable Donnybrook Tournament took place Thursday through Saturday at Xtream Arena, and local wrestlers took home some medals.
The AP-GC girls placed 25th as a team with 134 points. Grace Storjohann placed second at 120. Earning pins in her first four matches, she won a 12-8 decision over Erica Irvine of Don Bosco in the semifinal and lost by technical fall in the final to Angelina Gochis of Kaneland (IL).
Zoey Uhlenhopp placed seventh at 155. Winning her first two matches, she fell in the quarterfinal to advance to the consolation bracket. In the seventh place match, she defeated Kaylee Kintzel of Mount Vernon in a 15-8 decision.
In the boys tournament, Hampton-Dumont-CAL placed 31st with 75 points. The top finishers were Ryder Strother placing 10th at 165 and Maddon Evans placing 10th at 215.
