Four undefeated basketball teams will look to stay that way Tuesday when Aplington-Parkersburg hosts Denver for a North Iowa Cedar League doubleheader.

It’ll be a ranked matchup in the girls game between the #15 (2A) Falcons and #3 (2A) Cyclones. After four straight lopsided wins to begin the season, AP will face its first test.

“We’re going start living in the 40s a little bit if we’re going to win them, that Denver game especially,” Head Coach Brady Driscol says. “They’re such a great defensive team and long and athletic. We’ve have a hard time scoring against them in years past. So we’re not going to be scoring 60, 70 points on them. So defensively, we’re going to be really strong. They’re big. They rebound really well. They have shooters. They have a lot of varsity experience. Everybody’s back for them. So it’s not really a surprise of what they are and how good they are. So it’ll be a big test for us. And we’ll have to be really focused in and tough in that game.”

The Cyclones (3-0) have had a similar schedule with three blowout wins. Mylee Thurm leads with 13.3 points per game on 57 percent shooting.

The Falcon boys (3-0) have had three decisive wins, including 68-53 at Columbus Catholic Friday, where sophomore center Cole Brouwer took control inside with a team-high 22 points. It’ll be a battle of two of the league’s top scorers; AP’s Tyler Wedeking is second in the league with 22 points per game, and Denver’s Jackson Joerger is third at 21.

The doubleheader will start at 6:15 p.m.
