
Iowa motorists are seeing lower fuel prices this week. AAA reports the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in the state is $2.53 a gallon, a drop of 12 cents from last week and 17 cents lower than one year ago. The national average sits at $2.94, down 6 cents from a week ago.
According to GasBuddy this afternoon, regular unleaded in Hampton is averaging $2.73 a gallon. Prices in Iowa Falls are averaging $2.68, while prices in Parkersburg are at $2.32.
Diesel prices in Iowa also fell. The statewide average is $3.50 a gallon, down 11 cents from last week. One year ago, diesel averaged $3.26 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel price is 18 cents below the national average of $3.68.
Crude oil prices declined as well. West Texas Intermediate crude dropped $1.00 to $58.12 a barrel, while Brent crude fell $1.02 to $61.79. At this time last year, WTI sold for $68.85 and Brent crude was $73.64.
