Butler County Rural Electric Cooperative is offering several scholarships for students living in its service territory.
Dependents of Butler County REC members are eligible to apply for a $2,500 Basin Electric Power Cooperative scholarship for use at a two- or four-year college, vocational school or technical program. The first-place application will be forwarded to Basin Electric for final selection. The second-place application will be sent to Corn Belt Power Cooperative for consideration for a separate $2,500 award. If that applicant is not selected, Butler County REC will award a $500 scholarship. The application deadline is Feb. 1, 2026.
Additionally, High school seniors residing in the Butler County REC service territory are eligible for one of two $500 scholarships awarded by Butler County REC to those pursuing a degree in a technical/trade industry that supports the cooperative business model and/or electric line apprenticeship program. The deadline to apply for those scholarships is March 1. 2026.
