The Meservey City Council met Monday night and advanced several items tied to the community’s ongoing well-project upgrades.
The council approved two pay requests connected to the new well project—one for JB Holland and another for Cahoy Pump. Representatives from SEH attended to answer questions, including concerns about seeding and mulching in a parking area that was supposed to be gravel. The engineer told the council the issue will be corrected and said winterization of the well house will also be reviewed.
Council members also approved two change orders. One adds detectable warning panels required by Cerro Gordo County, totaling $1,130. The second grants a 120-day extension to Cahoy Pump’s construction schedule. In addition, the council approved an SEH contract amendment adding just over $12,000 in engineering fees due to scheduling variances and administrative needs.
Lien searches on two properties in town showed only small outstanding taxes, each under $500. The council gave Mayor Richard Miller permission to negotiate with the property owners to pay the taxes and transfer ownership to the city.
Mayor Richard Miller and council members Jennifer Burke, Michael Gobeli and Cyneva Myers all took the oath of office.
The next regular council meeting is scheduled for Jan. 12 at 6 p.m.
