The first Iowa unemployment data since the federal government shutdown has been released. Iowa Workforce Development spokesman Jesse Dougherty says the September unemployment rate fell to 3.7%, down one-tenth of a point.

Dougherty says the state saw an increase in the labor force and a gain of 3,700 jobs in September. He cautions that the September report was delayed by the shutdown and should be viewed carefully. Additional data expected in the coming weeks should provide a clearer picture of the state’s economic conditions.
