The Ackley City Council met Wednesday taking action on key budget, administrative and infrastructure matters to support city operations and future planning.
A budget amendment to the current fiscal year budget was approved, and a public hearing was scheduled for January 14th regarding nuisance abatement and junk vehicle ordinance changes.
Oaths of office were administered to Mayor Michael Nuss and council members Steven Ackerman, and Michael Wessels. The council approved appointments and reappointments to various boards and commissions.
The council discussed EMS tuition funding, approving payment from ambulance reserve funds with an interview process for volunteers. They reviewed water plant maintenance, including a leaking aerator tank and options ranging from repairs to installing a new tank, with potential grant funding and loan assistance considered. Updates on ongoing infrastructure projects included street, storm sewer, and bonded street work, and public works plans for snow removal and clearing fire hydrants around town.
