
The Alden City Council met in regular session Monday, Dec. 15.
The council approved a health insurance plan for city employees and authorized the transfer of just under $284,000 from the Dam Removal certificate of deposit into the Alden River savings account.
Mayor Harley Mourlam swore in Janaan Harding and Bob Hoversten for new council terms beginning in January 2026.
The council also set upcoming meeting dates, scheduling its January meeting for Jan. 26 and its February meeting and budget work session for Feb. 18. Both meetings are set to begin at 5 p.m.
During public input, Mark Buschkamp of the Iowa Falls Area Development Corporation discussed a potential downtown spotlight opportunity through the Iowa Downtown Resource Center aimed at small communities. The application deadline for Alden is Jan. 5.
