Drivers across the area may have noticed reduced visibility early this (Tue) morning after fog developed overnight into the morning hours. The National Weather Service in Des Moines says this is especially the case in spots where snow remains on the ground. Some locations likely experienced dense fog, including pockets of freezing fog, creating slick conditions on untreated roads and bridges.
The fog threat isn’t over just yet. Forecasters say similar conditions could return tonight (Tue) into early tomorrow (Wed) morning, again mainly in areas with lingering snow cover. Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra travel time during the morning commute.
Beyond the fog, the rest of the week brings a shift in the weather pattern. Strong and gusty winds are possible on Thursday. Residents should stay alert for changing conditions and keep up with the latest forecasts as the week progresses.
