Each Aplington-Parkersburg winter sports team will be in action Tuesday.

The basketball teams will travel to Hudson for a doubleheader that’ll air on 99 The Wave and RadioOnTheGo’s YouTube channel. Coming off their first loss, the #15 (2A) girls will look to bounce back. After going 5/18 from three-point range, Head Coach Brady Driscol says that’s an area they can continue to work on.

“The kids that are out there, I’d like them to shoot more,” Driscol says. “Catch it ready to shoot first, and then pass or drive. Eva Walker does a pretty good job of finding those guys and getting them open shots, she draws people in the lane really well and kicks it out to them. We need that and more going down the stretch.”

Hudson will go for its third straight win in the series after sweeping last season.

The Falcon boys were defeated at Denver for their first loss Friday. Head Coach Aaron Thomas says the team needs to return to its ways of being the more physical team as it enters a busy week.

“We go to Hudson who will always be well coached, they’ll have a good plan, they’ll try to limit what we’re doing,” Thomas says. “Then East Marshall is a really, really good team on Thursday who’s undefeated. They shoot it, they spread you out, we’re gonna have to guard. And then our rival, Dike-New Hartford, no matter what the records are, that’s gonna be a dog fight. So we have a huge week, and Monday’s gotta be a good practice. And we just gotta get back to being who we are, being tougher, the tougher team. And if we do that, we’ll be okay.”

After a down season last year, Hudson is 2-1, having defeated Jesup 45-25 Friday. Coverage will start at 6:00 p.m., followed by the tipoff at 6:15.

The AP-GC wrestling teams will compete at East Marshall. In a triangular, the boys will compete against the hosts and Roland-Story in a rescheduled event from Thursday, December 11. The girls will be in a quad that’ll also include South Tama County and Gilbert. Action will start at 6:00.
