The Wright County Board of Supervisors recently met and approved local funding support for a Community Attraction and Tourism grant tied to a new aquatic center project in Belmond.
Also during the regular meeting, the board unanimously approved a resolution committing up to $10,000 in matching funds for the City of Belmond’s 2026 Community Attraction and Tourism grant application.
County officials say the funding would be split evenly, with up to $5,000 coming from the county’s fiscal year 2026 budget and up to $5,000 from fiscal year 2027.
Supervisors also heard an annual report from Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc. Officials say the county’s $16,000 contribution last year helped provide more than $266,000 in direct services to Wright County residents. A request for continued funding will be considered during upcoming budget discussions.
In other business, supervisors approved additional funding of $3,270 for the Heart of Iowa Regional Trust Fund.
