The Clarksville City Council met in regular session Monday evening, approving a building permit, discussing street maintenance concerns and reviewing potential equipment purchases.

The council approved a building permit for Sterling Kroez to install a fence at 103 W. Walnut St. after city maintenance staff addressed questions regarding placement.

Council members also discussed concerns from residents about leaves accumulating in city streets and gutters. Mayor Jerald Heuer said the issue could impact drainage and street maintenance. Maintenance staff reported removing at least seven bucket loads of leaves and said cleanup efforts will continue. The council agreed to keep current policy in place and encouraged residents to keep leaves out of gutter systems.

The council reviewed a possible purchase of specialized street cleaning equipment to remove snow away from driveways. The equipment is estimated at $25,000. Members expressed concern about cost and efficiency and took no action.

Oaths of office were administered to incoming council members David Kelm, Wesley Voss and Jeremy Hoerman, along with Mayor Heuer.
