Aplington-Parkersburg will host Dike-New Hartford in a North Iowa Cedar League basketball doubleheader Friday on 99 The Wave and RadioOnTheGo’s YouTube channel.
The Falcons were originally scheduled to play at East Marshall Thursday, but the games were postponed due to weather. The Falcon girls (4-2, 3-2 NICL) have lost consecutive games, including a gut-wrenching 52-48 overtime loss at Hudson Tuesday. DNH (1-4, 0-4 NICL) will look to bounce back from consecutive losses to #5 (1A) Gladbrook-Reinbeck and #2 (2A) Denver.
The Wolverine boys (2-3, 2-2 NICL) are coming off Tuesday’s 80-42 loss to Denver, where they never recovered from a slow start. Head Coach Alex Tagtow says the rotation is still a work in progress.
“We’re far from a finished product,” Tagtow says. “And I think it shows there as much as anything, trying to figure out how we can mesh our guys together and what lineups work. It’s definitely something that’s a work in progress, but at the same time, I still feel really good about the guys that we have. We’ve just got to get on the court and we’ve got to play and we’ve got to throw those lineups out there and see how it works on film and see what works well for us. I think everybody we’ve played has had big stretches that have been really good, and they’ve had big stretches where we kind of show how new we are. So we’re just going to keep going through that, and I think we’re going to be in great shape as we get going here.”
Center Dawson Dietrick leads with 14.4 points per game.
The AP boys (4-1, 4-1 NICL) will look to remain near the top of the standings. They’re coming off Tuesday’s 59-31 win at Hudson, a bounce-back from a loss at Denver last week.
Coverage will start at 6:00 p.m., followed by the tipoff at 6:15.
