The North Butler girls and boys basketball teams will play their final games before holiday break, as they host Nashua-Plainfield for a Top of Iowa Conference East doubleheader on Monday.
The North Butler girls (3-4, 2-3 TIC-East) ended a four game slide with a quality conference road win 48-36 against Central Springs on Friday. Eden Wix delivered a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Zoey Thompson scored 14 points against the Panthers. The Bearcats offense has been aided by 11.4 assists per game (most in TIC-East). Head Coach Jordan Nolz says they will have to be prepared to handle pressure from the Huskies.
“They’re a young team that plays very athletically and gets out after you with their 1-3-1, 1-2-2 or 1-2-1-1 press,” says Nolz. “They’re not a team we can overlook. They competed with Newman and lost by three I saw. Over the weekend we’ll do a lot of film on them and then prep for them for that game on Monday.”
