Belmond City Council meeting recap from Dec. 15

The Belmond City Council met in regular session Monday, Dec. 15, approving multiple resolutions related to financing, infrastructure and city operations.

During the meeting, the council approved the issuance of $5.13 million in general obligation capital loan notes to support upcoming city projects. The action formalized financing arrangements and authorized a tax levy to repay the notes.

Council members also approved a 28E agreement with Wright County for road maintenance, allowing county crews to plow and perform summer blading on certain secondary road extensions within the city.

The council approved a $52,150 contract with K.R. Construction to repair and upgrade the Public Works shed near the wastewater treatment plant. In addition, council members adopted updated rules and regulations for the Belmond Municipal Cemetery, removing a provision related to unattended children.

The meeting included the administration of the oath of office for Mayor Frank Beminio, council member DePuew, and council members-elect Robyn Hardman, Earl Kalkwarf and Kevin Schultz.
