The Clarksville girls and boys basketball teams before holiday break will travel to Riceville for a Iowa Star Conference-North doubleheader on Tuesday.

The Clarksville girls (5-2, 4-1 Iowa Star North) have won four of their last five games, including a 65-23 home conference win over Cedar Ridge Christian on Friday. Against the Regents, Paige Kampman surpassed 1,000 career points, becoming the fifth player in program history to achieve the mark. Kampman leads the team with 20.1 points per game. The Indians have been locked in defensively, limiting opponents to 34.6 points per game (the least in Iowa Star North). Head Coach Ross Timmermans says they will be on the hunt for their first win in the series since 2020.

“Excited to see what we can accomplish on Tuesday. Riceville has had our number the last five years. We haven’t beat them for five years,” says Timmermans. “We’re looking forward to the opportunity to head up there and then play to our standard. Hopefully we go into the break feeling pretty good about the way we played.”

The Riceville girls (1-5, 0-4 Iowa Star North) is in the midst of a four-game slide, including a 45-38 conference loss to Janesville on Friday. The Wildcats shouldn’t be overlooked defensively with 12 steals per game. Claire Zweibohmer leads the team with 10 points per game.

The Clarksville boys (0-6, 0-5 Iowa Star North) lost a competitive conference game 54-44 to Cedar Ridge Christian on Friday. The Indians have improved their offensive output with 8.7 assists per game. Camden Behrends leads the team with 9.5 points per game.

The Riceville boys (4-3, 2-3 Iowa Star North) lost 75-60 to Janesville in conference play on Friday. The Wildcats battle for offensive boards with 16.7 rebounds per game. Owen Smith paces the team with 23 points and 14 rebounds per game. The Clarksville boys will look to track down their first win in the series since 2023.

The tip off is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. in Riceville.
