North Butler-Clarksville heads to Eagle Grove for quad meet

clarksville-2-2

The North Butler-Clarksville wrestling team will travel to Eagle Grove on Tuesday for a quad meet with Eagle Grove, Saint Ansgar and Newman Catholic. The team is coming off a fifth-place finish last Saturday at the Jones Brothers Tournament.

North Butler-Clarksville has six wrestlers with double-digit wins early in the 2025-26 season. Jaxon Shew leads the team with a 15-1 record and has not lost a match since Dec. 6. Shew has recorded six wins by fall, four by technical fall and two by major decision.

Jack Bartels, Ryland Pitzenberger and Brekken Schlader are tied for second on the team with 11 wins each. Evan McCormick and McCabe Gansen are tied for third with 10 wins apiece.

Head Coach Adam Holm says the mix of opponents should provide strong competition as the team prepares to close out the calendar year.

“Good one to end on,” says Holm. “We’re a couple of people short of a full lineup. St. Ansgar’s about full and Eagle Grove’s got quite a few kids, so I think we’ll match up well with them. We’ve seen Newman already a couple of times, and I think they got some good kids that give us a little bit of competition, I think, going into break. Those three teams will boost us into the break and give us some confidence coming into the ‘26 season.”

Action is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
