AP/GC gearing up for January schedule

The AP/GC wrestling teams have reached the Christmas break. For the girls team, it’s just over the halfway point of the season with one more month of regular season action. They’re coming off a first place finish as a team at the Iowa Falls-Alden Girls Tournament on Friday, December 19, entering the break on a high note.

Last season’s Class 1A runner-up at 120, senior Grace Storjohann is off to a 21-3 start, having earned her 100th career pin earlier this season. According to the latest IAwrestle rankings, she’s #3 in 1A at 120. Caylee Harken is 19-8 at 140, and returning qualifier Zoey Uhlenhopp is 17-8 at 155. In their next action, they’ll compete at a tournament at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Friday, January 2.

The boys are coming off a third place finish at the Jones Brothers Tournament at Iowa Falls-Alden on Saturday, January 20. Maison Copp leads the team with a 12-1 record at 215, ranked #6 in the weight class in Class 2A. Gage Miller is 9-1 at 150, earning the #12 ranking. Others surpassing double digit wins so far include Parker Mulder at 175, Chevy Richardson at 285 and Emerick Nolte at 165. Their first action of 2026 will be a triangular with Wapsie Valley at Dike-New Hartford on Thursday, January 8.
