The North Butler-Clarksville wrestling teams have returned to practice to prepare for the start of their 2026 schedule. The NBC girls team is just over the halfway point of their season with one more month of regular season action. They’re coming off an eighth place finish at the Iowa Falls-Alden tournament on Friday, December 19.
Freshman Cate Lodge is 8-9 at 110 with five falls and two decisions and entered the break off a second place finish at the IFA tournament. Senior Sydney Lovrien is 10-6 at 235 with nine falls and entered the break off a fifth place finish at the IFA tournament. NBC will return to action at RRMR Dual on Thursday, January 8.
The boys are coming off a 2-1 performance at Top of Iowa Conference quad at Eagle Grove on Tuesday, December 23. NBC won 62-18 over Newman Catholic, won 54-30 over Saint Ansgar and lost 42-19 to Eagle Grove. Freshman Jaxon Shew is 17-1 at 113 with seven falls, four technical falls and two major decisions. Jack Bartels is 14-7 at 138 and 144 with 11 falls, one technical fall and one decision. Senior Ryland Pitzenberger is 8-1 at 175 and 190 with eight falls. Head Coach Adam Holm says consistency on the top and bottom is a focus during break.
“We just want to be able to execute a little bit better. To be able to give a tough ride when we need to or ride somebody out when we need to, is really key. I think that’s something we’re gonna probably hit on break,” says Holm. “Then our defense is putting moves together to get out from underneath and be able to attack. Trying to get them to be more consistent with that. Then just be positive with attitudes and not give up anything easy to them.”
The North-Butler Clarksville boys will return to action with a triangular at Charles City on Tuesday, January 6.
