
The Aplington-Parkersburg Community School District Board of Education held an organizational meeting and conducted a regular meeting Monday, Dec. 29, at A-P High School in Parkersburg.
Superintendent Jon Fleshner called the organizational meeting to order, during which the board canvassed election results and appointed Jill Kalkwarf and Nate Steege to fill vacant board seats. Kalkwarf was elected board president, with Truax selected as vice president.
The board reappointed Darla Choate as school board secretary for the 2025-26 school year and set regular meeting dates for the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m.
The board also appointed Fleshner as the district’s affirmative action and equal opportunity coordinator and Jessica Klahsen as homeless and truancy liaison officer. Ahlers & Cooney, P.C., was approved as district legal counsel for the 2025-26 school year, and Steege was appointed as the Butler County Conference Board delegate.
During the regular meeting, the board approved more than $450,000 in School Budget Review Committee applications tied to open enrollment and at-risk programs. The board also approved multiple facility-related items, including more than $21 million in combined general obligation and SAVE bond construction costs, the purchase of a new convection oven, and repairs to the auditorium overhead door.
The board also approved a shared high school girls softball agreement with Dike-New Hartford and accepted several staff resignations and contract actions.
