The Hampton City Council will hold two workshops Monday evening, Jan. 5, at City Hall in Hampton.
The first meeting is a special City Council workshop scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers. During that meeting, council members are expected to receive an initial contract proposal from Teamsters Local 238, which represents the Hampton Police Department union. The council will then move into a closed session to discuss negotiation strategy, as allowed under Iowa law, before returning to open session and adjourning.
A second workshop, focused on the city’s budget, will begin at 6 p.m. Council members are scheduled to hear reports from the police department and public works. Mark Crawford of Crawford Engineering is also expected to discuss options for fiscal year 2027 street projects. The meeting will conclude with discussion on overall fiscal year 2027 budget considerations.
Both meetings will be held at City Hall, located at 122 First Avenue Northwest in Hampton.
