Nicolet Bankshares Inc. announced in October that it has entered into a merger agreement with MidWestOne Financial Group Inc., a move that will affect MidWestOne Bank customers in Parkersburg and surrounding communities.
MidWestOne, headquartered in Iowa City, operates a full-service branch in Parkersburg. Following the merger, Green Bay, Wisconsin-based Nicolet will assume operations, expanding its footprint in northeast Iowa as part of a larger Upper Midwest banking network.
The combined organization will have approximately $15.3 billion in total assets and more than 110 branches across Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan and other select markets. Company officials said the merger brings together two community banks with similar customer-focused approaches.
Nicolet Chairman and CEO Mike Daniels said the transaction strengthens the bank’s ability to serve local markets while maintaining a community banking model. Bank officials indicated that customers should expect continued service at existing locations as the merger progresses.
The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2026, pending regulatory and shareholder approvals.
