Franklin County Extension and Outreach is hosting a “Breed Back Better” workshop later this month in Hampton aimed at helping cow-calf producers improve reproductive efficiency and financial management.

The workshop is part of a statewide series organized by the Iowa Beef Center during a period of volatile markets and historically low cattle herd numbers. Organizers say the program focuses on record keeping, benchmarking herd performance and sound financial planning to help producers expand successfully.

The Hampton workshop is scheduled for Jan. 29 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at the Franklin County Fairgrounds Convention Center. The event will include a light meal and a brief market update from an Ever.Ag livestock economist.

Registration is $20 per person and is payable to the Franklin County Extension Office. Producers must register by Jan. 27 by calling 641-456-4811 or emailing xfranklin@iastate.edu.
