A man tied to a methamphetamine distribution operation based in Mason City has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Court records show 44-year-old Charles Robinson of Chicago, Illinois, pleaded guilty in September to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. Prosecutors say Robinson was involved in an ongoing methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy centered in Mason City between at least May 2023 and September 2024, where law enforcement documented him actively engaged in drug distribution.

Robinson was sentenced Monday in Sioux City by U.S. District Judge Leonard Strand to 120 months in federal prison. He will also serve a five-year term of supervised release following his prison sentence.

The case was investigated by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ron Timmons. Robinson remains in U.S. Marshal custody while awaiting transfer to a federal prison facility.
