Iowa Falls-Alden wrestling builds toward postseason

The Iowa Falls-Alden boys wrestling team continues its January schedule, with the focus beginning to shift toward postseason preparation.

As the postseason approaches, Iowa Falls-Alden Head Coach Scott Patton says health and steady improvement are priorities.

“Stay healthy and get healthy,” says Patton. “Get some of those guys back that are out of the lineup right now. We got to get them in, so it’s some key guys for us. For the guys that are currently healthy, just keep building. Keep working towards that postseason. Our goals are for the end of the season, so all those goals are still right there in front of us.”

Several Cadets have posted strong records this season. Kolbe Hansen is 16-6, while Zane Gillespie is 16-3 and Zach Smith is 16-4. Jase Ites is 12-2, Kyler Patton and Jag Jess are both 14-6, and Trayvahn Williams holds a 14-5 mark.

Patton says the team’s approach remains focused on taking steady steps forward, using each match as an opportunity to improve while keeping the bigger postseason picture in mind.

Iowa Falls-Alden will return to the mat on Thursday when they travel to Humboldt for a quad with Humboldt, Webster City and Spencer.
