AP/GC heading to Columbus for boys and girls triangular Thursday

The AP/GC wrestling teams will each compete in triangulars at Columbus Catholic Thursday, which’ll also include Sumner-Fredericksburg. The duals will air on 99 The Wave and RadioOnTheGo’s YouTube channel.

The boys are bringing in momentum after a 2-0 outing in a triangular against Wapsie Valley and Dike-New Hartford, followed by a tournament championship at BGM. The girls are returning to action for the first time since a fifth place finish at a tournament at Central Elkader. Head Coach Joel Reints describes how the team is working to put itself in the best position possible with highly important matches on the horizon.

“Work on something that you know you got, work on one move that you feel really confident in, get that dialed in, and then we’ll work on our counters from there,” Reints says. “But you always want to have that one thing from each position that you feel really comfortable in. And that’s kind of the focus at practice. You don’t want to neglect all the others, but you kind of get real good at that one thing that you can feel most confident in that when things are going bad, that one thing that I know is going to give me my best chance to be successful. And that’s kind of where we’re focusing in on.”

In simultaneous duals, the Falcons will take on Sumner-Fredericksburg at 6:15 p.m. and the hosts at 8:15 p.m. Coverage will start at 6:00.
