Meservey City Council meeting recap from Jan. 12

The Meservey City Council approved funding for the local fire department and authorized several resolutions during its regular meeting Monday night.

Fire Chief Jordan White presented the department’s 2026 budget, outlining expenses, township contributions, grant opportunities and coverage needs. Council members approved an annual apportionment of $16,000 and adopted the budget with an expectation of about $10,000 in grant funding. Council members also encouraged the department to continue pursuing available grants.

The council approved a mileage reimbursement rate of 72.5 cents per mile and a $1-per-hour wage increase for city employees, both by unanimous roll call votes. Officials also approved updated depository arrangements as the city prepares for a local bank branch closure.

In other action, the council authorized payment of nearly $57,000 to Dakota Supply as part of the city’s new well project and approved routine bills and expenditures.

The next Meservey City Council meeting is scheduled for Feb. 9 at 6 p.m.
