A single-vehicle accident was reported Tuesday afternoon in Geneva near the intersection of Front and South streets, according to Franklin County Sheriff Aaron Dodd.
Authorities received multiple 911 calls at approximately 12:54 p.m. on January 13th. One call came from a witness at the scene, while another was automatically placed from the driver’s cellphone as a result of the crash impact.
Dodd tells RadioOnTheGo News the vehicle left the intersection of Front Street, went airborne, and traveled into the alley located behind the former Long Branch restaurant.
The vehicle, a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse driven by 72-year-old Mark Cornelison of Geneva, struck trees and became lodged among them. The Traverse sustained significant damage and was considered a total loss, with estimated damages of $20,000.
Cornelison was treated at the scene by medical personnel and did not require transport for serious injuries. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Geneva Fire Department and Franklin General Ambulance.
