Two people were arrested following a traffic stop Tuesday night on Highway 65 in Franklin County.

Franklin County Sheriff Aaron Dodd tells RadioOnTheGo News a deputy stopped a Jeep at 7:39 p.m. on January 13th after it was observed traveling 70 miles per hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone. The stop occurred north of Hampton and south of the intersection with 190th Street.

During the stop, deputies located illegal substances inside the vehicle, leading to the arrest of both occupants.

The driver, 18-year-old Victor Ortiz-Garcia of Forest City, was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The passenger, 30-year-old Wesley Bostwick of Mason City, was charged with possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of prescription pills.

Both individuals were held overnight at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and were released Wednesday morning on their own recognizance after appearing before a magistrate.
