Iowa Falls City Council to consider grants, trail payment and ordinance update

The Iowa Falls City Council will consider several major financial items and grant agreements when it meets Monday, Jan. 19.

On the agenda is a payment of more than $313,000 to Peterson Contractors Inc. for work on the Goldfinch Trail, along with discussion on advancing fees tied to a consent order from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources involving Goldfinch Estates II. The council will also hold public hearings and consider resolutions on multiyear grant agreements with the Iowa Falls Chamber of Commerce/Main Street Inc. and the Iowa Falls Area Development Corporation.

Additional items include payments tied to the Princess Rehab Project, a proposal to move a $100,000 Meyer donation into the Iowa Falls Fire Department endowment fund, and approval of tourism and economic development funding requests. Council members will also consider an ordinance update related to stop-or-yield requirements and may enter a closed session to discuss pending litigation and land matters.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.
