The Aplington-Parkersburg School Board met Monday.

Among action items, they voted to not renew the contract for Jeff Pikna as the Head Football Coach. They didn’t publicly state reasons for the nonrenewal, but some board members applauded the administration’s decision-making process of recommending the action.

They approved the first reading of two board policies regarding the superintendent’s purchasing power. The superintendent may authorize purchases up to $25,000 without board approval for building improvements and goods and services. That’s an increase from the original allowable amount of $10,000.

They also approved several early retirement packages, rounding out a brief agenda.
